Google search local language suggestions.

Recently, you might have noticed a bar below the google search tab, that says a search in the local language. In this article, we will tell you why Google is showing this search to you and how to fix it?

One thing is pretty much clear that Google is using your location to suggest this local language search to you. Even if you turn off the location access to the Google app or Google chrome app, it still tracks you and gives you the search result.

Different sources that Google uses to determine your location

Google determines your location by using five different sources. These are explained below:

  1. Device Location: All smartphones now come with GPS settings. With the help of GPS, Your smartphone can track your location very precisely. When you give access to Google to your device’s location, Google uses this precise location to determine your location. If Google uses your device location to help get search results, you will see “From your device” at the bottom of the search result.
  2. Home or Workplaces: Many times you might save your work or home location on Google maps. Google may use this to determine your location when it’s likely that you will be at one of these places. You will see “From your places” at the bottom of the search page if google uses it.
  3.  Location History: If you are using different google apps that have access to your device location, Google might use your recent location of any signed in-app or device. Your last known location can be used for the next 24 hours to determine your location. You will see “From your Location History” at the bottom of the search page if your recent location history is used to determine your current location.
  4. Your Activity on Google sites and apps: If you are signed in to your Google account, and have turned on your Web and App activity, all of your activity on apps, web, and sites is stored in your account. Google can store your exact location to your activity if your activity involves it. If your previous activity is used to determine your current location, you will see “Based on your past activity” at bottom of the search page.
  5. From IP Address: An Internet address or IP address is assigned by your Internet Service Provider. It is the basic requirement to use the internet. ISPs allocate IP addresses on basis of geography. Hence Google or any other website gets an idea about your general area. “From your internet address” will be written at the bottom of the search page if your IP address is used to estimate your location.

So now you know how Google uses different sources to determine your precise location. If you turn off your GPS or location sharing with google, it will still have other sources to determine your location at least on a general basis.
